The Progression of Thornton Service

  1. Thornton Service operates as the service division of R. M. Thornton, Inc., a commercial mechanical contractor.

  2. Ronald E. Serabian becomes the General Manager of the R. M. Thornton HVAC Service Division. He and Joseph M. McNamara, Jr. run the service division until they purchase it from R.M. Thornton in late 1993. The new company becomes Thornton Service, Inc.

  3. Thornton Service forms a separate facility division that focuses on total building maintenance in biomedical research facilities. The division starts with the management of two animal science labs, and they add additional lab buildings from 2004 to 2006.

  4. Thornton Service is purchased from R.M. Thornton and continues its focus on preventive maintenance and repair of commercial heating and cooling systems.

  5. Thornton Service relocates to its current address in Rockville, MD.


Meet the Thornton Service Team

Ronald E. Serabian, President (owner): Ron has been the general manager and/or owner of Thornton Service or its predecessor since 1987. His background also includes 10 years as the Director of the Allied Products Division of Carrier Corporation. Ron is responsible for business development and maintaining customer relationships with Thornton Service’s large facility accounts.

Joseph M. McNamara, Jr., Executive Vice President (owner): Joe has been with Thornton Service or its predecessor since 1987, and he has strong Operations, Sales and Sales Management experience. His responsibilities include subcontractor coordination of large facility accounts, business development and marketing.

Matthew F. Morin, Vice President, Operations (owner): Matt has been with Thornton Service since 2002 and has served in both Sales and Operations. He is directly responsible for the operation of the mobile division, including project sales, coordination and pricing.

Alfio Bruno, Vice President, Finance (owner): Alfio has been with Thornton Service since 2009 and is responsible for overall company financial operations. He brings to Thornton Service 35 years of finance experience with the U.S. State Department Federal Credit Union.

Patrick Serabian, Accounting Assistant: Patrick handles Thornton Service’s day-to-day accounting operations, as well as marketing and corporate branding; his background includes Operations and Accounting support.

Joseph McNamara, III, Operations Coordinator: Joe schedules all maintenance and repair for Thornton Service’s mobile division’s customers. He is also responsible for pricing, quotations, work schedule coordinating and expediting repairs.
